Priorities

Practical priorities for Rushen and the South.

  1. 01 Support green energy policies while opposing onshore and offshore wind farms.
  2. 02 Ensure the new Castle Rushen High School, swimming pool and sports hub are built without delay.
  3. 03 Address the poor state of roads and footpaths in Rushen.
  4. 04 Ensure the bus service continues to the Sound.
  5. 05 Affordable housing for all.
  6. 06 Nobody should have to sell their home to pay for care. All care should be free.
  7. 07 Encourage economic growth and enterprise without unnecessary regulation.
  8. 08 Promote common-sense solutions without vanity projects and over-regulation.
  9. 09 Assisted dying should be decided following a referendum and much greater public consultation.

My Commitment

The South should no longer be treated as the poor relation.

Practical delivery, fair treatment, and support for people who have paid in throughout their working lives.

I want to get the roads and footpaths sorted, and a new school and swimming pool actually built.

I will squeeze Government until the pips squeak to ensure the South is no longer treated as the poor relation.

As a Prison Adjudicator, it is clear to me that we need to address problems resulting from alcohol and drug abuse. Giving young people a criminal record is not the answer. Education, detox treatment centres and the force of public opinion will be more effective than total prohibition, which is unfortunately incapable of being enforced.

If you are a pensioner, sick, disabled or a carer, then you deserve support and to be treated fairly. You have paid in throughout your working life; your home should not be at risk when you need care.

Free care should be your right — your reward for a lifetime of struggle.

As the Manx public own the Steam Packet Company, Manx residents should receive a discount on fares. After all, we bought it.

Those visiting sick relatives in the UK should receive a compassionate discount.

How We Pay for It

Stimulate the economy and cut waste.

01

Stimulate the economy and have the courage to cut waste.

02

Stop strangling small businesses and farmers with tax regulations and employment laws that leave closure as the only option and create high streets full of charity shops.

03

Reduce business rates.

04

Stop paying people who can work but choose not to work.

Final Message

No empty promises. Just let me get the job done.

I am in this for you, not my own self-satisfaction.

I do care.

I shall listen.

No empty promises.

Just let me get the job done.

Anyone can promise a wish list.

If elected, I shall deliver.

Please give me your vote.
